Life is like a puzzle, nearly impossible to see the full picture until you put all the pieces together. It can be especially troubling for young people, who today face more life challenges and choices than ever before.
Via the internet, today’s teens have access to information, music, movies games and scores of other items instantaneously, causing a lack of patience and a rise in online temptations such as sexually suggestive websites.
Today’s hectic space has teenagers and parents scampering at break-neck speed from one activity to the next, causing stress, potential health issues and little quiet time for family and things that quiet the soul.
Surrounded by so many different things that help shape our lives in so many ways, young people can get easily confused, causing them to focus so much on one aspect of their lives that another more important one gets ignored and falls through the crack.
Putting the puzzle of life together takes time and lots of patience. Like a giant puzzle, life also has some essential pieces that are crucial to solve its issues. There are some important pieces that define life itself. We must help our teenage children and young adults determine which pieces are most important and which ones are missing from our lives.
The weekend of April 30 – May 2, the Church of Christ in Waterbury will host a youth event designed to help teens deal with the issues they face, to help provide answers to some of life’s most puzzling questions for teens.
Along with fun recreational activities like basketball, volleyball, ping pong, video and board game competitions, food and more, Lonnie Jones, a license professional counselor and former police swat team member from Alabama, will speak and answer virtually any questions our young people have.
